Huxley at Makerfaire 2011
For the last few years we have been building various RepStrap versions of Darwin and Mendel in an attempt to devise simple ways to build a 3D printer self replicating machine.
Huxley Seedling is one of our first generation projects that started in 2009 and is based on all of the experience gained building the previous RepStraps. The first two of these RepStraps were built in February 2010. Huxley Seedling is the final rendition / re-design.
The design concept evolved to make use of Fixit Blocks as a means of assembly for the kit as we found one of the many hurdles in building other kits was the complexity of the fixings and the length of time to build them.
- Reduced number of Nylock nuts or locking washers
- Prevents Acrylic from cracking / breaking
- Ensures a 90 degree angle.

All hardware & software development work is carried out under the GNU General Public License. Any products developed from these projects are covered by Creative Commons Licensing – Attribution – Non-Commercial. All drawings of product designs are covered by UK Copyright Law unless stated otherwise.
